Isaiah
50:4
The
Sovereign Lord has given me an instructed tongue, to know the word that
sustains the weary. He wakens me morning
by morning, wakens my ear to listen like one being taught.
NLT: The Sovereign Lord has given me his words of
wisdom, so that I know how to comfort the weary. Morning by morning he wakens me and opens my
understanding to his will.
Isaiah
55:2-3
“Why spend
money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me,that your
soul may live. I will make an
everlasting covenant with you, my faithful love promised to David.”
NLT: “Why
spend your money on food that does not give you strength? Why pay for food that does you no good?
Listen to me, and you will eat what is good.
You will enjoy the finest food. Come to me with your ears wide
open. Listen, and you will find life. I
will make an everlasting cove-nant with you. I will give you all the unfailing
love I promised to David.”
John
19:30
When he had
received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his
spirit.
NLT: When Jesus had tasted it, he said, “It is
finished!” Then he bowed his head and
released his spirit.
Matthew
27:50-51
And when
Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was
torn in two from top to bottom. The
earth shook and the rocks split.
NLT: Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released
his spirit. At that moment the curtain
in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart.
