2 Corinthians 4:6

For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

NLT:  For God, who said, “Let there be light in the darkness,” has made this light shine in our hearts so we could know the glory of God that is seen in the face of Jesus Christ.

Matthew 5:3, 6

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven … Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”

NLT:  “God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.  God blesses those who hunger and thirst for justice, for they will be satisfied.

Colossians 2:9-10

For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and you have been given fullness in Christ, who is the head over every power and authority.

NLT:  For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.  So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.

Psalm 150:6

Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.  Praise the Lord.

NLT:  Let everything that breathes sing praises to the Lord!  Praise the Lord!
