Isaiah 64:8

Yet, O Lord, you are our Father.  We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.

NLT:  And yet, O Lord, you are our Father.  We are the clay, and you are the potter.  We all are formed by your hand.

Psalm 27:8

My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”  Your face, Lord, I will seek.

NLT:  My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.”  And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.”

1 John 5:5-6 (NKJV)

Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?  This is He who came by water and blood--Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood.  And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

NLT:  And who can win this battle against the world?  Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God.  And Jesus Christ was revealed as God's Son by his baptism in water and by shedding his blood on the cross--not by water only, but by water and blood.  And the Spirit, who is truth, confirms it with his testimony.
