1 Corinthians 10:10

And do not grumble, as some of them did—and were killed by the destroying angel.

NLT:  And don’t grumble as some of them did, and then were destroyed by the angel of death.

Luke 1:79

To shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.

NLT:  to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.

2 Samuel 22:29-30

You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord turns my darkness into light.  With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.

NLT:  O Lord, you are my lamp.  The Lord lights up my darkness.  In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall.
