Exodus 20:4-5
“You shall not make for yourself an
idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the
waters below. You shall not bow down to
them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the
children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those
who hate me.”
NLT: “You must not make for yourself an idol of
any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the
sea. You must not bow down to them or
worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate
your affection for any other gods. I lay
the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even
children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me.”
Isaiah 55:12
You will go out in joy and be led
forth in peace.
NLT: You will live in joy and peace. The mountains and hills will burst into song,
and the trees of the field will clap their hands!
2 Samuel 22:29
You are my lamp, O Lord; the Lord
turns my darkness into light.
NLT: O Lord, you are my lamp. The Lord lights up my darkness.
