Psalm 139:1-4, 23-24
O Lord, you have searched me and
you know me. You know when I sit and
when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord…Search me,
O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and
lead me in the way everlasting.
NLT: O Lord, you have examined my heart and know
everything about me. You know when I sit
down or stand up. You know my thoughts
even when I’m far away. You see me when
I travel and when I rest at home. You
know everything I do. You know what I am
going to say even before I say it, Lord…Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of
everlasting life.
1 John 4:18 (AMP)
There is no fear in love (dread
does not exist), but full-grown (complete, perfect) love turns fear out of
doors and expels every trace of terror!
For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and (so) he who is
afraid has not reached the full maturity of love (is not yet grown into love’s
complete perfection).
NLT: Such love has no fear, because perfect love
expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is
for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his
perfect love.
